Reading the Clock — Step by Step
The Hour Hand (short)
- •Points directly at a number → that's the hour
- •At 3:00 it points exactly at 3
- •At 3:30 it points halfway between 3 and 4
- •At 3:15 it has moved slightly past 3
The Minute Hand (long)
- •At 12 → exactly o'clock (0 minutes)
- •At 3 → 15 minutes (quarter past)
- •At 6 → 30 minutes (half past)
- •At 9 → 45 minutes (quarter to next hour)

⚠️ Common Mistakes
- !Confusing the hour hand and minute hand (hour = short, minute = long)
- !Reading 6:30 as 6:06 (forgetting minute hand at 6 = 30 minutes)
- !Saying "quarter past 6" when minute hand is at 9 (that's quarter TO 7)
